The COVID-19 pandemic is a major blow to the meetings industry, as well as the whole economy and society. In the past we have dealt with other disasters, but this time, the challenges are much bigger and complicated than ever before.
There is a famous quote, “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, not the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” What is the new normal for the meetings business that should we adopt, considering the changes in business and social practices?
ICCA has announced the “Kaohsiung Protocol Framework” as the major legacy of the 59th ICCA Congress held in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei in November 2020. This year, the ICCA Congress was transformed into a hybrid format, with an interactive six-weeks-long conversation as the Congress program. The entire global ICCA community connected with each other and explored new ideas, formats and technologies.
The final report of the protocol was just published a week before this AP Chapter summit. In this session, the process and key outcomes of “Kaohsiung protocol” will be shared, which identify significant trends and key strategies of the meetings industry. Also, further questions will be raised with the ICCA President and CEO – What are the key components of our industry’s recovery? What is the role expected of the Asia Pacific chapter? How should ICCA member collaborate in the time of crisis?
Before we conclude Day 1, please join this session to further debate the essence and potential of real-time business intelligence together, to reach a transformation in our industry.
